friday july 8th

hello all, welcome to the new, updated and upgraded blog. I want to give a special shout out to my professor and practicum advisor Johnie who showed me the beauty of blogger.

I am no longer a senior at Lawrence University. I graduated! Very grateful for my time at LU. Lots of love to my friends and professors but good Lord am I glad for it to be over. I genuinely did not think I would make it out in one piece. Still emotionally recovering from winter term capstone.

Surprisingly, the studio art degree is proving to be a great deal of help in the work force. I have a full time job at a teaching pottery studio in the suburbs of Chicago where I teach and manage marketing and social media. It's been so great to step into the ceramics field! On the side, I teach classes and workshops at a few other studios in Chicago (one of which is right near where I live, super convenient!).

I still have strong feelings about Tom Cruise, which have only been amplified since the new Top Gun movie (which I, unfortunately, heard was pretty good).

Morning Recap:

I did pilates from a YouTube video in my living room.  For breakfast I made a burrito (steak (thank you Alec), egg and hot sauce) and I ate it while I watched the Great Pottery Throwdown on HBO. I have to leave for work in about half an hour, but perhaps I will treat myself to a dunkies.

This weekend I am going to my parents' to do some laundry and hang out with the pups. On Sunday I have a figure building workshop in West Town. Very excited to teach people how to use clay. Here is a little face cup I made the other day. His name is Horace.

Horace, 2022

Today at work I will probably assist with some PYOP drop ins (paint-your-own-pottery) and then prepare a schedule for some instagram posts. There is a beginner wheel throwing workshop tonight from 6:30 - 8:30 that I will also be helping out with. Perhaps if it is slow I can work on some more Horace-esque cups. I did some research on international residencies this morning as well. Some of them are looking absolutely idyllic. I will probably work for a few years then get some money and go to grad school (maybe for ceramics?). Who knows. This time last year I was studying for the LSAT and working at a bagel shop. Things change.

I will attempt to make this blog look more aesthetically pleasing after work. For now, you can enjoy Horace and the fuzzy header picture of the Lawrence University ceramic studio.

see ya later alligator

xx
