wednesday august 17th

I finally bit the bullet and rented out a studio space. i don't work until 7pm (wahoo!) so I slept in until like 9 this morning. I spent the morning doing dishes and making rice. then i watched a new episode of the rehearsal and now I am watching the second season of the great pottery throw down. I also made some sketches of things I want to make tonight. 

I already have made some donuts, I just need to trim and attach some spouts. Recently, I have been very interested in functional forms. I want to make a few berry bowls and soap dishes and things. I also want to do a series of mugs with silly words on them. Here are some words I was thinking:

Tonight Alec is going to the Sox game with some friends. Before I head to the studio I need to clean my closet. It's an absolute disaster in there. I was thinking I would head over to my studio (omg!!) at around 4:30 or so. That way I can get a few hours of throwing in before students get in. Today I am going to get new clay. I am still in between getting white or brown stoneware. I have some porcelain that's been sitting in my car that I must use. I hate porcelain a lot though, it's finicky and annoying to work with. 

I need to begin looking for art fairs in the area. My plan is to build up a good inventory by next summer. In the off seasons I can sell stuff on Etsy or something I suppose. I have been working on making vases. Here is one I made last week then destroyed. 

This Friday is my very first workshop at the Chicago Ceramic Center (!!). I have been teaching at the Chicago Ceramic Center since just before graduation and I have done other workshops at other studios so I am not too nervous. I am very excited. I can't wait to trim my little baby ceramic donuts when I get in today. Ok, time to pee and clean my closet. (:
