 LOL

ok so i was googling myself just but a moment ago and i saw that my BLOG comes up when you google my name. so i had to do a little swapperooni of the title. i literally could not think of another title besides this.

anywhomst. welcome back. since my last posting, i have gotten a cat and my car was totaled.

alec and i with june (previously kimchi) at paws animal shelter on her adoption day :)

me the day i found my car totaled, just four days after getting june

first i shall talk about the cat. i never have had a cat before and quite frankly i had a pretty bad image of cats in my mind since childhood because of the major motion picture Cats & Dogs (2001), starring jeff goldblum and tobey mcguire. i loved that movie as a kid. when i was a kid i got this dog stuffed animal and i named it lou after the dog (tobey mcguire). his full name is lou bruno chance, lou from cats & dogs and chance from homeward bound (two classic films in the galassini household). anyway, that movie made cats look real bad and evil. plus, i was super allergic to anything that shedded when i was a kid. like being rushed to the doctor allergic.

it all changed when i had the opportunity to visit my aunt in england this past march. she had a very cute tabby cat named chai. chai would lay on my chest and purr. it was so cute.

in england texting alec about cats

spending time with miss chai...... i was NOT allergic to her! i wasnt sure if it was a coincidence or what but i felt zero sniffles or itches. it was magnificent. alec and i planned on going to the animal shelter after the craziness of may when both of our schedules settled down. we ended up making an appointment for may 31st.

the day before our appointment at paws, we were doing some shopping (litter, toys, treats etc) when we decided we should see if we could get into paws to sorta get a lay of the land. everyone at the shelter was very kind and they gave us a visitor pass to look at all the feline friends. i liked a persian cat named annmarie but we couldnt hang out with her because she was sleepy. he liked a cat named queenie who kinda scared me. she was a tabby but she looked like she was staring into your soul. after our little visit, we kept refreshing the website to see what cats they had and we compiled a list to visit for our actual appointment.

the next morning, we saw on the website that both queenie and annmarie were adopted. our third option was this fella named stuart. we went in and asked to see him. they made us sign a waver because he had bitten people. neither of us liked stuart. immediately after, the lady helping us suggested we go to the friendly cat room. there were three cats in the friendly cat room: kimchi, saffron and a cat that had just given birth.

saffron was an orange fella and he had one eye. alec wanted to name him one eyed willie (like willie nelson). BUT THEN. this super tiny itty bitty cat came right up to us. and she was rubbing at my ankles and trying to lick me. we hung out with her for like two minutes and decided she was the gal. we named her june carter cash but she has no shortage of nicknames: junie, junebug, june moon etc. she is a little over a year old and when we got her she had a little kitty cold that we still give her medicine every three days for. june is super playful and cute and loves a good nap. she sleeps between me and alec every night.

there isn't much to say about the car besides rest in peace.  it was a 2008 nissan rogue and she was living her best life after so many recalls. now i am upset because i need to think about buying a car soon. its tough because i can take the train and bus to work but getting back is tricky bc i work late and late at night the cta is less reliable and quite frankly very frightening!

i wanted to briefly discuss this whole titanic submarine situation as well. so on monday i first heard about the missing submarine. there were a few billionaires that had the bright idea of visiting the sunken titanic wreckage at the ocean floor. very goofy. you couldn't pay me to do that. they went missing or lost contact or something and the coast guard and government military all that bs is lookin for these fools. i feel bad because wow what an absolutely traumatizing event for the parties involved and their family but like... the ceo and engineer of the submarine kinda a doofus for not giving the vessel that many safety features. i understand its hard to do that when ur traveling two miles below sea level or whatever but come on. why bother? we got those little robot ship videos of the titanic underwater, why not just check that out? like, this wasn't even in the name of science, it was a tourist activity supposedly. again, super tragic and awful and sad but like.. very preventable. they supposedly ran out of breathable air this morning around 7am cst (it is now thursday, june 22nd) and the rescue mission has turned into a recovery mission. very bizarre. since theyre not able to find any of these people i truly wonder if the submarine thingy had a leak and just imploded. i doubt there would be any traceable debris. wow dark. anyway, i hope the victims' families get closure, but at this moment things are not lookin too hot for these underwater folks. i think the saddest part is that one of these rich dudes brought his 19 year old son with him on this expedition. i cant even imagine how much guilt I would feel as a parent. you think youre gonna go on this super cool once in a life time quarter of a million dollar trip but you end up never making it up ): thats so sad. this damn submarine has been on my mind the last like forty eight hours and i cant stop thinking about how horrifying it would be to be STUCK down there with limited air, no food, water, freezing cold, no BATHROOM. good lord.

because theres such a media frenzy, so many people are like "why are we spending millions of dollars on these five people" or "why cant we put this much money into health care or unhoused people or ending world hunger". people are also talking about how a ship off the coast of greece capsized and no one gave a fuck. which is sad. and unfortunately i think the reality of the situation is just that.. these rich men are powerful rich men with influence and i bet their family's would be sue happy and make a fuss (rightfully i guess). and for some convoluted reason, maybe because it is such a covered topic (everybody loves the titanic tragedy), other rich people with power are spending time and resources and technology on these rich goofballs instead of the poor migrant folks who dont have any power or recognition. and i think that is the true but devastating reality of it all. those poor people in the boat didn't have any big company ties or a wealth of connections so those resources would have never been available to help them. disgusting lowkey. ugh this gets me so worked up bc on one hand i feel for these submarine people, like, they didnt get into that tin can and expect to die. no one deserves death. but sometimes you gotta use ur common sense too. unregulated technology.. controlled by a damn logitech bluetooth controller. nothing in the damn world would even make me CONSIDER going on that damn thing regardless of how safe it was supposed to be. same thing for space. fuck nasa fuck space. no thank you.

anyway. i think thats it. i have a sale this weekend at the logan square arts fest and im excited. hopefully my spoon rest come out on time. after this weekend i have two weeks off and i am gonna go to the beach and relax and also help my friend mix some glazes yeeehaw

now im all worked up. jesus.

ciao
